Designed by Samuel Colt between 1847 and 1850, the Colt Revolving Belt Pistol or Navy Pistol is a .36 caliber, cap & ball revolver, which despite its name, was mostly used by military land forces and civilians. Around 272,000 of these revolvers were manufactured and distributed to Europe, Asia and Africa, and were in general, adopted by many countries around the world. The engraving on this revolver is a commemoration of the victory of the 2nd Texas Navy at the battle of Campeche.
