Griswold & Gunnison Revolver
Griswold & Gunnison Revolver
Replica Griswold & Gunnison Revolver. Gunmetal Finish, Wood Grip. (Item 071083G)
Produced in 1862, the Griswold and Gunnison revolver is a brass framed copy of the Colt 1851 Navy, made for the Confederate States of America, during the American Civil War. The Griswold factory, set up by Samuel Griswold in 1830, is located in Griswoldville, Georgia, and was originally a cotton gin production factory, but was later leased to the CSA for arms production, during the Civil War. The revolver was originally called the Griswold and Grier Revolver, but was later changed to the Griswold and Gunnison Revolver, after Griswold’s business partner, Arvin Nye Gunnison. The Griswold factory produced the most revolvers for the Confederacy, than any other factory.
