Designed in 1872 by the Colt Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company, The Colt Single Action Army (nicknamed the “Peacemaker”) is one of the most iconic revolvers of the old west. Adopted by the US Military in 1873, it became the standard military service revolver, and stayed in service until 1892. Though the military version held 6 shots of .45 Colt , it was offered in over 30 different calibers, with many different barrel lengths and configurations, thus becoming popular among civilians, lawmen, outlaws, military men and gun enthusiasts alike.
